Final cut

Persistence:

Editing update

Today, myself and my group made lots of progress with our film and are extremely happy with the end result. We made lots of changes today including adding a voice over to the kitchen scene, in which character two is introducing her story. We thought this would be effective as it helps the kitchen scene to flow nicely without it appearing to drag on. The voice over also fits in with the typical thriller conventions; having explored lots of thriller films, I am aware that popular thriller films such as gone girl and misery include voice overs and it really helps to build the plot within both cases.

Today we also created and added in our idents; the first one being an animation of a running man with the titles "runaway studios" sliding in from each side. We thought that this ident would effectively relate to the genre as the man swiftly running away from something suggests mystery and apprehension; two of the key conventions of the genre

The second ident included a pan of dark, bare trees which we edited to look extremely bleak. We slowed the pan down to create suspense before adding the title "CDM productions". This dark ident relates to the genre as it is eerey and mysterious, it creates a sense of suspense, the ident also mirrors scenes two and three within our film; the forest scenes.

First Cut Feedback

Today, myself and my group presented the first cut of our film to our media class. The feedback that we received was mainly positive

We were told that we'd made good progress with our editing by adding effects to our shots that enhanced them effectively, the group also commented on our soundtrack that we imported and said that it flowed effectively within the scenes.

One person said that they liked the way that the kitchen scene contrasted with the forest scene; they said it worked effectively as you don't expect the plot to twist from such a normal, mundane atmosphere to a life or death situation.

We used a "white noise" sound effect twice in our film to introduce different scenes in a slightly alternative way; this was received well by our class with lots of people saying it worked effectively.

However, we did receive some constructive criticism; some said that scene one; the scene within the kitchen dragged on for too long and grew dull. Because of this feedback, we will consider cutting down the scene wherever it is possible.
